New Featured Natural Hair Journey

New: Updated on Healthy Hair Journey

Daniqua Owes
Bronx, NY

Daniqua has been transitioning from relaxed to natural since December of 2010. The beginning of her hair journey consisted with a lot of protective sew in styles.

Daniqua's main reason for going natural was the overall health of her hair. She notices her hair is thicker and sheds less since she stopped relaxing.

Now that her hair has grown out to a more comfortable length she is experimenting with natural styles and giving her signature sew in styles a break.

Natural Hair Protective Styling

It's been a while Powerful Women that I have mentioned anything related to my hair.

With the seasons changing my hair is dry and was long over due for a trim.

Honestly, it's been a while since I have done anything to my hair...lol. Last week Saturday I tried a new pre poo mixture of Ultra Sheen Duo Tex Protein Conditioner and Infusium 23 Leave In. I followed up with a co wash and chunky two strand twist for my layered trim.

Yesterday unplanned I used 2 packs of Marley Braid 350 hair to two strand twist, leaving my hair out on top to blend two strand twists.

My scalp being exposed will allow me to mix up some oils and massage while giving hair a rest.

What has the seasons changing motivated you to do to your hair?

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is the annual campaign to increase awareness of the Breast Cancer disease.

The last 14 days of the month I will be joining the awareness movement by researching Susan G Komen's Breast
Cancer 101.

There is no known cause of the disease just known risk factors that combined and left alone can increase chances of the cancer.

Statistics show Caucasian women are most likely to get breast cancer although African American women are most likely to die from it.

It is important to visit and talk with your doctor about any concerns.

I hope over the next 2 weeks I am able to provide some helpful information about the disease and raise awareness.
